Barbara Cleaver, Researcher and Collector
Find out about the clothing, jewelry and hair style that Frida Kahlo chose that made herself a symbol of her homeland and a fashion icon. Barbara Cleaver, a collector and researcher of vintage Mexican textiles, will give an illustrated talk on the attire adopted by the famed painter who used the traditional Tehuana clothing admired by her husband, Diego Rivera, to assert her Mexican nationality and create a signature look, admired at home and abroad.
As part of the lecture series complimenting the exhibition Mirror, Mirror: Photographs of Frida Kahlo, this lecture will be presented in the Udall Museum Services Center directly across Camino Lejo from the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art.
